Step Ahead is an innovative science based program located at First Congregational Church in Braintree and in downtown Quincy. Step Ahead incorporates a comfortable environment that eases the child into an academic situation that includes a strong phonics agenda and an effective math program. Other activities range from daily art and crafts, number games, reading readiness skills, story telling, role playing, poetry, dance, sports, and music. Definitely something for everyone!
Step Ahead Preschool and Kindergarten has two locations: one in Braintree and one in the heart of downtown Quincy. Both locations have a preschool for students 2 years 9months and older, and a transitional kindergarten for students who do not meet the kindergarten age cut off date. Also for those needing a boost before entering kindergarten. Braintree has a full day kindergarten with and extended day hours for the working parent. Braintree also has early drop off at 7:30 am.
Flexible Schedules
Step Ahead has a variety of schedules set up so parents may pick and choose the days they would like their children to attend.
Science Programs
We are a science school with an academic outlook. Projects are student based with hands on attitude. We begin each year by looking at the human body and continue through a variety of subjects until we are in outer space
Language Arts
Step Ahead’s language arts program is phonics based incorporating upper and lower case letters and their sounds. Reading is a daily occurrence as is homework.
Math Curriculum
Our number and math curriculum include the printing of numbers, patterns, measurement, graphing, addition, money and time.
Social Studies
Social Studies occur in the afternoon. We look into the fifty states, their capitals, state flower, state bird and what each one is noted for.
Creative Programs
Arts and crafts, singing, dancing and poetry made fun also occur on a daily basis.
