 Rest Time

REST TIME We do not as a policy have a rest time. If you would like your child to have a rest after lunch, please let us know. Your child shall need to bring in a blanket from home.

 Lunch

LUNCH All full day children need to bring a lunch. Drinks and two snacks are provided. Please try to avoid an abundance of “sweets” as their desert. Cookies, fruit, raw vegetables, or salad may be a a good substitute.

 Clothing

CLOTHING If you would like to keep a change of clothing on hand please put them in a bag with your child’s name on the outside and place in their backpack.  We are outside for recess as much as possible. If there is snow on the ground please send boots and warm clothing so we may go out and enjoy it.  No drawstring clothing please.

 Snacks

SNACKS One snack is provided for the the half-day children in the morning.  The full day children receive a snack in the morning and one in the afternoon.  The snack consists of cracker, pretzels, fruit, and vegetables, to name a few. Many times the snack is related to the unit we are covering.  Example: spaghetti with a unit on Italy.  If you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday you may send in a special snack.

 Snow Days

SNOW DAYS Step Ahead is closed when all Braintree or Quincy Public Schools are closed. Step Ahead is opened for a full day when there is a delayed opening in Braintree or Quincy schools.  We do not honor delays.  If you are not sure please feel free to call.  This information is given out on WJDAWHDH, and most of the major television networks.

 Illness

ILLNESS If your child is sick with any contagious illness please keep him/her home.  If your child becomes ill during the school day a parent or other authorized person will be contacted.  A child absent with a communicable disease needs a note from their doctor upon return.  A child with either a fever or has vomited must be kept home for 24 hours after the last occurrence.

 Tuition

TUITION Tuition may be paid weekly, monthly or yearly. A payment schedule is available for your reference.

 Intake Procedure

INTAKE PROCEDURE Step Ahead notifies the public through newspaper ads, cable TV, the website and most importantly – word of mouth! An annual open house is held in February or March for all parents and children. This allows parents time to visit the school(s) and have questions answered. As interested parents get in touch with our school(s), they will be directed to our website or sent a package in the mail explaining the program along with a registration form. Fill out the registration form and mail to the address at the top of your form, the completed registration form and a non-refundable check for $100.00 to reserve your child’s spot for the upcoming school year. Upon receipt of the registration form, the parent receives a packet with the forms and policies that will complete your child’s registration.

 Discrimination

DISCRIMNATION Step Ahead will not discriminate on the basis of physical and/or mental disabilities, race, religion, cultural heritage, political belief, sexual preference or marital status.
